Firefighters Memorial Benches Design Process
Below are the steps taken to create the memorial bench.
Send Memorial Bench Ideas
To get started on the Firefighter Bench, be sure to email us any and all ideas you have. This can include photographs, inscriptions, clipart, notes on a word document, etc. For the Draper City Fire Department Bench, we were sent their logo, a photograph, and an inscription to include.
Memorial Bench Proof
Our team takes the design ideas and turns them into a proof of the bench. The proof provides a realistic look of how the finished bench will look. It is emailed to you for final approval before being sent to laser cutting. This gives you a chance to review the design and have any changes made if needed.
Firefighter Memorial Benches Features
Powder Coated Finish
Each memorial bench is sandblasted, primed, and powder coated. Powder coat is applied in a a three-step process that helps protect the bench from chips, scratches, and peeling. Powder coat is also resistant to rust and corrosion. Choose from a large variety of of vibrant powder coating colors. View our color options here.
Long-lasting Firefighter Bench
At Smith Steelworks, we design Firefighter Memorial Benches that will last for years to come. The benches are cut from a single sheet of metal and bent into shape. Using one sheet of metal cuts down on the number of welds needed; yielding a stronger bench with fewer points of weakness. All welds are fully closed to keep moisture out. The bench is also powder coated (as stated above) to prevent weathering.
Firefighter Memorial Benches Honor Our Local Heroes
Memorial benches pay tribute to local heroes who have given their lives to protect our community, country, and our safety. This Firefighter Bench was created in memory of Matthew Burchett, who lost his life fighting the Mendocino Complex Fire in 2018. We hope this bench will help his family, friends, colleagues, and community heal and continue to remember his life and service.
