The Dedicatory Bench Purpose
Each dedicatory bench is available with full custom designs along the metal back. Portraits are one of the most requested design options. Our talented artists are capable of turning old photographs into a laser cut ready file.
For “The General” dedicatory bench, the family wanted to include a portrait of Artie, a horse scenery, and a special inscription.
Dedicatory Benches Design Process

Rough Draft Design
Fist, send us a rough draft design of the bench via email. This can be a word document, illustrator or photoshop file, sketch, etc. Be sure to also include any photos you would like used on the bench back. A representative will get back to you within 24 hours to start the next step.
Bench Mockup
After reviewing the concept ideas, our team gets to work creating a bench mockup. This mockup will be emailed to you for review. You will have the opportunity to look over the design and have any changes made. Once the design has been approve, we start production.
Finished Bench
The bench is then laser cut from a single sheet of metal. Once the laser cutting is complete, the bench is bent into shape; making it as durable as possible with fewer points of weakness. The bench is then sandblasted, primed, and powder coated for a tough, smooth finish.
Backyard Dedicatory Benches
For “the General” memorial bench, it was installed in a backyard. This will provide a place to sit, share stories and memories, cry, laugh, and remember. At Smith Steelworks, it is our greatest hope that the dedicatory bench will help in the healing process and be a source of comfort.
